WUMC Weekly Update: June 21, 2010
Inclusiveness Conversation Wednesday, at

we want to be radically hospitable to all,
becoming an open and diverse community of
committed Christian servants. All are invited
to this the conversation about various forms
of inclusiveness this Wednesday, June 30
(in Dixon Lounge) and then move forward to
find ways to welcome all God’s children.

New Worship Schedule Begins August 1
Our new, year-round schedule will be:

Traditional Worship (& Children's Church)
10:30-11:30 am
Fellowship Time

Sunday School for all ages

Emerge Worship (& Children's Church)
We will begin this new schedule on August 1, the first Sunday of August. This schedule will allow us to return to an earlier morning Chapel Service during the summer, so in August we will have service in the Chapel at 8:30 am.

- We are trying an experiment for the months of July and August. Starting Thurs., July 1, Official church office hours are: 9:00 am through 4:00 pm, Monday through Thursday and 9:00 am through 3:00 pm on Fridays. We will see how this works and decide in mid-August if this schedule will be maintained beyond August or if we will return to the 8:00 am-5:00 pm timeframe.
- Mary Wetterauer, our receptionist and membership secretary for the past five years, has decided to retire effective June 30, 2010. She will continue to serve through Worthington UMC, but just not in a paid capacity. If you would like to leave cards for her in the church office, we will be sure she gets them. SPRC will work with our lead pastor to best secure coverage for the tasks that must be done and you will hear more about this in the future.
- This Wednesday, June 30, students of Janice Cook will present a program entitled Celebration of Sound: Not Just Black and White in Potter Chapel at 7:00 pm. You are invited to attend.
- The Faith In Literature Adult Sunday School class has begun an 8-week unit on "Wizards, Wardrobes and Wookies: Finding God in Modern Fiction." There is no cost and you’ll be able to keep up if you miss a class or two. Join them on Sundays at 10:10 am in the Chapel Lounge.
- The next series of New Member Classes will be held on Sundays, July 25, August 1 and August 8, from 5:00 pm until 7:30 pm. If you are interested in joining the church or transferring your membership, contact David Hoffman at 614-885-5365 or david@worthingtonumc.org.
- If you are considering membership at WUMC, you and your family are invited to attend Pizza with the Pastors, in the Commons Area of the church, following the 11:00 am worship service on Sunday, July 11. If you'd like to attend, please make a reservation by contacting the church office at 614-885-5365 or David Hoffman at david@worthingtonumc.org.
- Our Annual Church-wide Picnic at Highbanks will be held on Sunday, July 18, at 5:30 pm. Mark your calendar now!
- The Blessing of the Animals will be held on Saturday, July 24, 10:00 am on the church lawn.
- Sign up for Vacation Bible School or Explorations (Monday-Friday, July 26-30). Register online or contact the church office at 614-885-5365 or heather@worthingtonumc.org.
