New Stephen Ministers
Matt Cooper.Gail Walter.Welcome to our two new Stephen Ministers, Matt Cooper and Gail Walter, who were commissioned at yesterday's 9:00 am and Emerge worship services.
Celebrate Pentecost - Wear Red!
Methodist logo. This Sunday, May 23, is Pentecost, the birth of the Christian church. Traditionally, bright red colors together with doves are used to commemorate when the disciples received the gift of the Holy Spirit. The red geraniums on the alter are part of our Pentecost celebration, and everyone is encouraged to wear Red!

Geraniums. or people who like to play in the dirt - are encouraged tojoin Bob Chiles and the Trustees to plan flowers around the church this Sunday, May 23 at 2:00 pm! Red Geraniums have been purchased for the Pentecost worship service and will be planted around the church. THis is a great family activity where all ages can help put a welcoming face on the church. Please bring spades, trowels or your favorite garden tools. To sigh up, please stop by or contact the church office, at mary@worthingtonumc.org or 614-885-5365.
Special Sunday Blended Worship on May 30
Mark your calendar now for our special Sunday Worship Schedule on Memorial Sunday, May 30. One Blended Service will be held at 10:00 am, with no Sunday School or Children’s Church. Child care for infants and toddlers will be available as usual. Our normal schedule of 9:00 worship, Sunday School for all at 10:10 and Emerge at 11:00 returns on Sunday, June 6.

  • Memorial Sunday Flowers: you are invited to bring cut flowers in memory of loved ones to place in community vases during our opening songs at our 10:00 Blended Service on May 30.
  • To help sort and box this month's Bag of Blessing donations for NNEAP food pantry, please contact Dave Wade at 885-0114 or wadefamily@columbus.rr.com, or simply show up after the 10:00 am Blended service on May 30 (around 11:00 am). The whole process should only take about a half hour with a good group of helpers.
  • Household items are needed for our CRIS Refugee Family. Please contact Terrie Huston, at 614- 840-0966 (leave message) or TerrieHuston@columbus.rr.com, regarding specific items needed.
  • Our next Red Cross Blood Drive is Wednesday, May 19. Make an appointment to save a life!
  • Marriage Celebration is set for Saturday, May 22, 7:00-9:00 pm, at the home of Mike & Martie Schoener. Kindly RSVP by Monday, May 17, (mylnhill@aol.com or 614-505-6779).
  • Sign up your children now for Galactic Blast VBS, July 26-30, 5:30-8:30 pm. Cost is $15 per child with a max of $40 per family and includes dinner for the whole family. Sign up in the Ministry Hallway this Sunday or online. Join us this summer!!
  • Volunteers are needed to do the work of our new Carpenter's Helping Hands Ministry and administrative support. To help, contact Jerry Knorr at 614-436-4866 or jerryknorr@gmail.com.
  • The Emerge team is in need of a couple of volunteers to help run the visual projection system at the 11:00 service. Please contact Tom Strous, attstrous@insight.rr.com, for more information.
  • On April 27, the Administrative Council approved the Finance Committee's recommendation to address the projected 2010 Operating Budget deficit of $138,000 by reducing 2010 Operating Budget expenses by $68,000 and by raising an additional $70,000 for 2010 Operating Budget income. Over the next several weeks, a plan will be formulated to implement this recommendation. — Jim Heilman, Chair, Finance Committee
  • Attention: Caregivers! Author Gail Sheehy will speak on Tuesday, May 25, 7:30 pm, at First Unitarian Universalist Church, in Clintonville. The presentation is intended to let caregivers know that they are not alone, and to help them feel better equipped to handle a very challenging job. Tickets are only $10.00. This Week's Committee Meetings and Happenings:
  • Today, Stephen Ministry Potluck and Memorial Service begins at 6:30 pm, and Rebekah Circle meets at 7:00 pm (offsite).
  • On Tuesday, May 18, Devotions are at 7:15 pm, followed by Adult Council at 7:30 pm.
  • On Wednesday, May 19 the Red Cross Blood Drive will be held from 1-7:00 pm, and the Naomi Circle will meet 6:30 pm.
  • On Thursday, May 20, the Finance & CPC meeting will be held at 5:00 pm.
  • On Saturday, May 22, Marriage Celebration meets 7-9:00 pm, offsite.
  • Sunday, May 23, is Pentecost Sunday and you are encouraged to wear Red! Rally Day planning meeting is at 12:00 nooon, and the WUMC vx. Riverside UMC softball game is at 2:00 pm at Fancyburg Park.
