WUMC Weekly Update: April 26, 2010



BishopFritzMutti. Bishop Fritz Mutti to preach at WUMC on May 2! While the UM Council of Bishops is in central Ohio we have the privilege of having Bishop Fritz Mutti preach this Sunday, May 2. He has served in a variety of pastoral settings and was assigned to the Kansas Episcopal Area as their Bishop in 1992. He retired in 2004 and has remained involved in leadership positions in the UMC and Ecumenical Community. He and his spouse Etta Mae served for a number of years as the Coordinators of the UM Global AIDS Fund. They are the parents of three sons, two of which have died of AIDS. It will be an honor to have the Muttis join us for worship this Sunday, May 2. Be sure to be present.

Mother's Day Basket Silent Auction Fundraiser ends Sunday
The Mother's Day Basket Silent Auction began yesterday! Check out our display in the Ministry Hallway, now through next Sunday, May 2. Write your bid(s) on the clipboards provided. Bidding ends next Sunday, May 2. Winners will be notified after Sunday, May 2. Proceeds from the auction will benefit Church Camp and VBS. Thanks for your support!

  • On May 2nd, at 12:00 noon, after the Emerge Service, we will meet with WUMC families who have members with special needs to talk about how we can better provide for you. Please join us!
  • New - Pentecost Geraniums! Last day to order red geranium plants for Pentecost is Sun., May 2 .
  • Cookies and helpers are needed on Tuesday, May 4, 7:30 am-6:30 pm to welcome our neighbors on Election Day. To greet voters for an hour that day, please contact Jeanne Line at 885-3111. Bring cookies (homemade or store-bought) to the church any time prior to May 4.
  • Bereavement Co-Chairs are needed to coordinate food and fellowship for families who gather at the church after a funeral or memorial service. Several teams are already in place and a leader or two co-leaders are needed to coordinate the teams when gatherings are scheduled.   • New! The Carpenter's Helping Hands Ministry will help those folks connected to our church who can't afford or aren't able to perform basic household repairs, yard work and other maintenance chores, such as painting, cleaning, moving furniture, yard work, basic repairs, and simple installations. This Week's Committee Meetings and Happenings:
  • Today, the Elizabeth Circle will met at 7:00 pm, at the Worthington Food Pantry.
  • On Tues., April 27, Devotions will be at 7:15 PM, followed by Administrative Council at 7:30 pm.
  • On Friday, April 30, the Family Dinner Groups Potluck will be at 6:30 pm.
  • On Saturday, May 1, the YF/Impact Breakfast Fundraiser at Champps is from 7:00 to 9:30 am.
