WUMC Weekly Update: April 6, 2010



Change the World book cover. New Adult Class Offering: A Study using the book, Change the World: Recovering the Message and Mission of Jesus, by Michael Slaughter, will be offered twice a week between Easter and Pentecost. The Wednesday evening class, beginning April 7, will be taught by Cyndy Garn. The Sunday morning class, taught by Jim Heilman, will begin this Sunday, April 11. Books are available now in the church office mary@worthingtonumc.org), at a cost of $14.00. Join us!
The Good Sense Budget Course (GSBC) will be offered starting on Sunday, April 18, at 10:10 am, in the Staff Lounge (off the Commons). Taught by Tony Konecny and Jeri Seabaugh, the class will be limited to 16 people, and there is a cost of $15 per person for the book. There is pre -work that needs to be completed. Couples are welcome to attend, but they each need to purchase a book. The class is likely to extend past the start of the Emerge Service each week and plans are in the works to offer the class again at an earlier start time so that Emerge attenders can participate in GSBC. Books for this class are available now in the church office!

Crossroads Young Adult Ministry: Young Adults, ages 18-35ish, are invited to meet outside the sanctuary after Emerge each Sunday to walk to La Chatelaine to share brunch together.   • Join the Open Door Class for their new series, "Serious Answers to Hard Questions" starting this Sunday, April 11, at 10:10 am, in Browning Lounge. Join us!
  • New! WUMC Singles Group: All singles, age 40 & above are invited to an organizational meeting of a new social & fellowship group on Wednesday, April 21, at 7:00 pm, in the Browning Lounge.
  • District UMW A Day Apart meeting and educational session will be held on Sat., April 24, 9:30 am-3:00 pm. Registration deadline is April 17. $10 fee includes morning coffee hour and lunch.
  • On May , at 12:00 noon, after the Emerge Service, we will meet with WUMC families who have members with special needs to talk about how we can better provide for you and listen to any suggestions you may have for us.   • New Life UMC’s annual Blue Grass concert, will be held on Sat., April 17, 5:00-10:00 pm.

  • Today, Devotions are at 7:15 pm, followed by Evangelism Committee, Trustees, all meeting at 7:30 pm.
  • On Wednesday, April 7, the new Adult Class Change the World: Recovering the Message and Mission of Jesus, taught by Cyndy Garn, will begin at 7:00 pm.
  • On Thursday, April 8, CPC Budget Meeting and Martha Circle meeting are both at 7:00 pm.
  • On Friday, April 9, Breakfast and Conversation Group meets at La Chatelaine at 7:00 am.
  • On Saturday, April 10, Men's Breakfast is at 7:30 am, Jubilee Ringers Rehearsal is at 8:45 am, Knitters and Stitchers are at 9:30 am, and the New Life UMC Clothing Room Work Day is from 9:00 am till noon, at New Life UMC, 25 West Fifth Ave.
  • On Sunday, April 11, the new Adult Class Change the World: Recovering the Message and Mission of Jesus will begin at 10:10 am, in South Fellowship Hall.
