TWO Big Events!!!
September is a BIG month at WUMC this year! You are invited to take part in two special events. Join us for both!
RALLY DAY – Sunday, September 7
We'll start the day with worship service at 8:30 AM in Potter Chapel, and 10:00 am in the Sanctuary. Then, following worship, at 11:00:
-
Linda McFarlin and ten re-enactors will make the period of our church's founding come alive as they join us for worship and fellowship. The characters in McFarlin's drawings will jump off the page. They will talk with us and demonstrate what it was like to live in the period between 1700 and 1870. A settler family will show us how they survived and how they had fun. Native Americans, mountain men, and militia men will tell us how they saw this period of rapid change.
-
Food (subs, chips, drinks and cookies) will be available during this time for a nominal cost.
-
Come and join us for this unique event!
Bicentennial Celebration Sunday -- September 28
We began with a Circuit Rider last April and our Bicentennial Celebration culminates with worship at 9:00 & 11:00 am, followed by Luncheon Banquet at Villa Milano, 1630 Schrock Road. The celebration features:
-
A "Procession of Pastors" who have served at WUMC, past and present, at the 11:00 service
-
A receiving line to greet these pastors at 12:30 pm, at Villa Milano
-
At 1:00 the delicious buffet opens with adult entrees (including vegetarian) and children’s selections (ages 3-10), followed by Birthday Cake and Ice Cream!
-
Dinner music provided by Ray Brooks of Lewis Center, who is a Mid East Regional Hammer Dulcimer Champion and a student at Capital University Conservatory of Music. Ray will play festive Irish and Appalachian music as we dine.
-
Speaker Joe Blundo, columnist for The Columbus Dispatch.
-
Special activities for kids
-
Tickets for the luncheon are available for purchase on Sunday mornings and in the church office (Monday-Friday).
-
We want everyone to participate in the celebration! There’s plenty of room! Come one, come all!
Save the Date!
The culmination of our 200th Anniversary will be a luncheon at Villa Milano, immediately following the second service on Sunday, September 28. Plan to be there!
