Rally Day – September 12, 2010
Going Green:
Recycle – Restore -- Renew
One Combined Worship Service at 10:00 am

We hope your summer was refreshing and invigorating. It certainly went by quickly. Our Rally Day will be "Going Green: Recycle – Restore – Renew!!!"

A Ministry Fair will be held before and after the worship service beginning at 9:00 AM and ending after lunch. We are hopeful the weather will be such that we can have our lunch out on the front lawn.

Lunch will be from Kroger and consist of sub sandwiches, wraps, chips, relishes, cake and beverages. Tickets for the luncheon will be $5 per person/$20 per family and will be available beginning August 29th. As a part of our Going Green theme we are collecting t-shirts, sweat shirts and men‘s pajamas for New Life. So recycle some gently used items and helped to restore and renew a person‘s situation. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated.

This will be a wonderful kick-off to our Fall Programming and a great way to reconnect with your church family following the summer.

We hope to see you!!

Every Member In Ministry

One of our goals for the next couple of years is to get every member of WUMC involved in a ministry. It may be praying for those in need, singing in the choir, going on the mission trip, teaching Sunday School – the list is endless. But we want to be sure everyone has the opportunity to use the God-given gifts they have to be in ministry in Christ‘s name.

As we move through the fall and come to our Commitment Sunday, November 14th you will hear more about the opportunities available and on November 14th you will be asked to commit to the five areas of our membership covenant. These areas are: prayer, presence, gifts, service and witness. The first week of November you will receive a booklet listing opportunities and a commitment card to use in prayerfully considering 2011 and how you want to be involved.

We will be sharing more about this in the weeks to come but wanted to give you an idea at this time of what is around the corner. Your staff and several volunteers are beginning to take the necessary steps to help us move forward with this particular focus. Please look for more information to come!!!
