Disciple I: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study
Currently taught by: Ann Wheat and Reverend Bob Chiles
Time: 17 weeks, beginning September 14, Sunday mornings, 10-11:00 am
Location: tbd
Disciple I: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study is the first of four Disciple Bible Studies.
The purpose of Disciple I: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study may be summarized in the words of Ephesians 4:12 "to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ."
The hoped-for results of the program are to develop biblically nourished persons committed to live as disciples. Through Disciple, persons will be strengthened in their faith and guided into service and ministry. Strong, biblically nourished leadership will help your church grow in vitality and Christian discipleship.
Some people who complete this study will become leaders of Disciple; all persons in the study will be guided into servanthood and ministry. Because their ministry will be inspired as well as informed, participants will become
- better Sunday school teachers,
- better parents,
- better youth and adult choir members,
- better officers in the church,
- better youth fellowship members.
Disciple I Resources
Each participant needs a study Bible. All Disciple Bible Studies are based on the New Revised Standard Version, although all Bibles may be used.
Each member of a study group needs a study manual. The manual guides the leader and the group members in their study and preparation for the weekly study session. The manual includes daily reading assignments of Scripture along with commentary and questions for reflection and response.
